In 2017, I rebranded DB!SPA Records as Superblack Records, inspired by my profound admiration for the Zimbabwean artist Dumi Maraire. My transformative experience happened in 2016 when I had the privilege of performing his original compositions in a marimba band. This is when I created the Boom Jungle Wood moniker.
Superblack Records has evolved from a Diaspora dance label, predominantly focused on funky house music, into a distinguished Afro Gospel and Christian/Hip Hop label. I find this evolution unsurprising.
