Music created by Africans all over the world.

  • I Worship You

This is the summer release featuring CHIKO. Boy, there’s a story behind this record. I hope to go live with CHIKO soon to explain the process on the record. I love the song. I feel blessed and highly favored. I hope you love it as much as we do.

  • Superblack Records

In 2017, I rebranded DB!SPA Records as Superblack Records, inspired by my profound admiration for the Zimbabwean artist Dumi Maraire. My transformative experience happened in 2016 when I had the privilege of performing his original compositions in a marimba band. This is when I created the Boom Jungle Wood moniker.

Superblack Records has evolved from a Diaspora dance label, predominantly focused on funky house music, into a distinguished Afro Gospel and Christian/Hip Hop label. I find this evolution unsurprising.

  • 2006/Rate this Record

It was around this time that I established Rate this Record for the Internet. Originally conceived to shed light on a child custody case from Washington State, I immediately recognized that the name was well suited for my music label. The next year, in 2007, I inaugurated the Rate this Record Dance Music Network. I was committed to championing independent music producers. The Network encompassed a special group of exceptionally talented producers hailing from all over the globe. The winner of our inaugural Producer of the Year contest was DJ George Patsan. If he happens to recall, please extend my regards to him.

In 2007, I became acquainted with Audacity software, and from that moment onward, you may refer to me as a dance music producer. During this period, I was somewhat delusional, overly optimistic about my productions. Nevertheless, alongside aka Rex, I co-produced one of my all-time favorite releases around 2010. Sadly, this marked the end of my collaborative and production endeavors with Rex, but fortunately, we can still relish the fruits of our labor today.

  • 1999/DB!SPA Records

In 1999 I started my first and only record label, DB!SPA Records in Seattle, Washington.  I’ve previously credited Shocklin Lewis Jr. and Christopher J. White as co-founders of this pro-black, alternative, non-secular dance label.  I was the party (out of the three) motivated by positive, child-friendly, “spiritual” music. Hopefully I have demonstrated this preference thus far.

I’ve used many monikers over the years including Boomslang, The Anti-Sex, Saint Blade, Fearless Leader, Monster, NMNI Rath and today some call me Superblack (SB).  I’m flattered.

Leaving L.A.  (2001)  Saint Blade Band

In 2017, I changed the name of DB!SPA Records to Superblack Records.  I’ll talk about Superblack Records when we get through the 2000s.

The Boss DR-5 was my crutch between 1999-2010. I would buy one today but I guess I won’t. Boss DR- 5, Fostex -26, Yamaha PSR-170, Casio SK-1 and a Radio Shack microphone. Use this recipe to make up a new sound, from the past.
